Jeon Wonwoo was born on July 17, 1996, in Changwon, South Korea. He attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul (SOPA), graduating in 2015. He later enrolled at the Hanyang University Institute for Future Talents, where he studied applied music (K-pop department).

In his third year of middle school, after moving to Seoul, he started taking guitar lessons. At first, he only auditioned for Pledis Entertainment to gain experience, but surprisingly passed. Initially trained as a singer, people noticed that his deep voice suited rapping well. This led him to explore hip-hop, become known as a rapper, and eventually join SEVENTEEN's hip-hop team.

In 2015, Jeon Wonwoo debuted as a member of the South Korean boy group SEVENTEEN with the mini album “17 Carat” on May 26. Within the 13-member group, he was chosen as a member of the hip-hop unit, where he showcased his deep rap style. Since his debut, Wonwoo has actively contributed to songwriting and has been involved in the creation of over 35 songs, most of which were performed by the hip-hop unit. His lyrics are often shaped by introspective themes, reflecting his poetic and thoughtful approach to music.

In March 2019, he donated personal items to an auction benefiting the Nabiya Cat Shelter, an animal welfare organization in Seoul. In 2022, he supported the shelter again, once more showing his love for animals.

Also in 2022, Wonwoo released a heartfelt cover of IU's song „Knees“, which he dedicated to his late mother. The cover was highly praised for its emotional depth and revealed a softer, more vulnerable side of him as an artist.

In 2024, Wonwoo and his SEVENTEEN bandmate Jeonghan debuted as the group's second official subunit, named “Jeonghan X Wonwoo” (JxW). They released the single album “This Man,” which included three songs, among them „Leftover“, Wonwoo's first commercially released solo song. With this project, he was able to demonstrate his musical versatility by combining his introspective songwriting style with new vocal and rap approaches, further cementing his artistic growth.
