BIOGRAPHY

Song Kang (Korean: 송강), born April 23, 1994, is a South Korean actor. He was born and raised in Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea with his parents and younger brother. His father is an artistic gymnast and his mother works as a piano teacher. So Song Kang was surrounded by art from an early age. He attended Songpa Middle School, then went to Changhyun High School and graduated from Konkuk University. Song Kang almost pursued the career of an idol because many agencies wanted to cast him. However, he decided against it and decided to become an actor.

CAREER

Finally the moment came when Song Kang made his dreams come true. On April 20, 20017, he made his acting debut and appeared on TV for the first time as a supporting actor in the romantic comedy series 'The Liar and His Lover'. That same year, he was cast in the family drama "Man in the Kitchen" and also appeared in two music videos: "Sweet Summer Night" by acoustic duo The Ade and "Love Story" by Suran. On July 8, 2017, his agency Namoo Actors organized a fan meeting called "Introduction to Rookies" for Song, along with Oh Seung-hoon ("Bloody Heart")  and Lee Yoo-jin ("Three Bold Siblings").

From February to October 2018, Song Kang hosted the SBS music show "Inkigayo" together with Mingyu (Seventeen) and Jung Chae-yeon (SLIDE) . He became a regular cast member in the variety show "Village Survival, the Eight" and was nominated for the "Rookie Award" for these two performances at the 2018 SBS Entertainment Awards. In July 2018, Song Kang made his big screen debut with the fantasy film "Beautiful Vampire". From 2019, Song Kang's popularity continued to gain momentum. He first played the supporting role of Jung Kyung-ho's assistant in the tvN fantasy melodrama 'When the Devil Calls Your Name'. He then took on the lead role in the Netflix original romance series "Love Alarm", based on the popular webtoon. Since the series received very good reviews, a second season was announced.

Song Kang achieved his next big success in 2020 with his role in the apocalyptic horror Netflix original "Sweet Home", based on the webtoon of the same name. The series found a wide international audience and earned him a nomination for Best New Actor – Television and the ACA Excellence Award at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2021, he starred again in the second season of "Love Alarm" and also appeared in the tvN series "Navillera", where he took on the role of a ballet student. He took ballet classes for six months to prepare for this role. In the same year, he starred opposite Han So-hee in the JTBC webtoon adaptation "Nevertheless", which also aired on Netflix.

In 2022, Song Kang continued his successful career by appearing in another JTBC drama, "Forecasting Love and Weather" alongside Park Min-young. He held fan meetings with fans and announced a "Song Kang Asia Fan Meeting Tour 2023" in various countries. In 2023, he played the lead role alongside Kim Yoo-jung in the Netflix series "My Demon", which brought him international attention. He also won two awards at the SBS Drama Awards for 'Top Excellence Award, Actor in a Miniseries Romance/Comedy "My Demon"' and 'Best Couple Award'.
