Kim Min-gyu (김민규), known by his stage name Mingyu (민규), is a South Korean rapper, singer and songwriter signed to Pledis Entertainment. He is best known as a member of the globally successful boy band SEVENTEEN, where he serves as lead rapper, sub-vocal and visual. Mingyu is also an important part of SEVENTEEN's hip-hop unit.

Mingyu was born on April 6, 1997 in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. He grew up with a younger sister, Kim Minseo, and attended Burim Middle School, Seoul Broadcasting High School, and Dong-A Broadcasting Arts University, where he studied K-pop. He is known for his striking appearance as he is the tallest member of SEVENTEEN.

Mingyu was discovered by Pledis Entertainment in 2011 when he was in his second year of middle school. He began training the following year and dedicated four years to improving his singing, dancing and performance skills. Before debuting, he gained his first experience by appearing in music videos for NU'EST, Hello Venus and Orange Caramel and appeared in the reality show “SEVENTEEN TV”, which documented the group's journey before their debut.

Mingyu's talents extend beyond music. His hobbies include football, basketball and assembling action figures. He has a good sense of fashion and is responsible for hairstyling within the group. Known for his humor, leadership and dedication, Mingyu remains a beloved figure both within SEVENTEEN and among fans worldwide.

In 2022, Mingyu became an ambassador for French luxury brand Lancôme, showcasing his elegance in various campaigns. That same year, he attended Cartier events in Seoul and later graced the cover of “Dazed Korea,” wearing the brand's jewelry. His influence continued to grow in 2023 when he became the global face of South Korean skincare brand “Innisfree,” embodying the brand's fresh image.

Mingyu's relationship with luxury brands continued in 2024. He became a local ambassador for “Bvlgari” and later in the year joined the “L'Occitane” brand as an ambassador for Asia. Additionally, “Calvin Klein” selected him for its Fall 2024 campaign, with Minguy’s photos receiving widespread attention. His fashion influence reached a peak when “Dior” announced him as a brand ambassador, cementing his worldwide popularity.
