BIOGRAPHY

Lisa (리사) was born on March 27, 1997 and named Pranpriya Manobal. However, around the age of 13, she changed her name. A fortune teller advised her that a new name would bring good luck. Since then she has been called Lalisa Manobal, which means “The Promised One”. As an idol she uses the stage name Lisa. In fact, it is not uncommon in Thailand to change one's name, usually in the hope of gaining good fortune or solving problems. Some Thais even change their names several times.

Lisa is an only child who was raised by her mother Chitthip Brüschweiler and her stepfather Marco Brüschweiler. Her stepfather is a well-known chef nicknamed “Master Chef Marco”. Nothing is known about Lisa's biological father.

Lisa took dance lessons at the age of 4 and was a member of the dance crew “We Zaa Cool”, which also included BamBam (GOT7). The crew even won an award at the “LG Entertainment Million Dream Sanan World Competition”. Lisa also competed in singing competitions.

Lisa was a fan of K-pop artists like BigBang and 2NE1 and also dreamed of becoming an idol. In 2010, Lisa applied for a YG Entertainment audition and was the only one out of 4,000 candidates who was able to prevail. In 2011 Lisa moved to Korea and began her training. She was YG Entertainment's first non-Korean trainee and one of the first Thai K-pop idols.

During her time as a trainee, Lisa modeled for the fashion brand Nona9on and the cosmetics brand Moonshot. Both brands were founded by YG Entertainment. She also appeared in the music video “Ringa Linga” by her labelmate Taeyang (Big Bang).

On August 8, 2016, Lisa debuted as a member of the four-member girl group Blackpink. The other three members of Blackpink are: Jisoo, Jennie and Rosé. The debut album “Square One” was a complete success: the singles “Whistle” & “Boombayah” topped both the Gaon Digital Chart and US Billboard's World Digital Songs Chart. It is the start of an unprecedented career!

Blackpink is a South Korean K-pop girl group that was launched by YG Entertainment in 2016 and has been taking the world by storm ever since. The four members - Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa - are not only singers, but also fashion icons and entertainers who are leading the K-pop wave.

With their distinctive style, powerful performances and strong personality, they have set new standards in the K-Pop industry. Blackpink is much more than a girl group - they are a cultural phenomenon. We have summarized the greatest successes for you:

• 2018: They became the first K-pop girl group to achieve a "Perfect All-Kill".
• 2019: Blackpink became the first K-pop girl group to top the Billboard Artist 100 chart in the US.
• 2019: "Du-Du-Du-Du" is the first music video by a K-pop girl group to reach 1 billion YouTube views.
• 2019: Blackpink made history as the first K-pop girl group to take the stage at the legendary Coachella festival in California.
• 2020: "How You Like That" topped the iTunes charts in over 100 countries.
• 2021: Blackpink set a new record for the most-watched online concert by a K-pop act with their virtual concert “The Show,” which reached over 280 million viewers worldwide.
• 2022: Blackpink set a new record by performing in more than 20 countries with their “Born Pink” world tour, making them the largest tour by a K-pop girl group ever.
• 2023: With over 90 million subscribers on YouTube, Blackpink holds the world record for the most subscribed female music group.
• 2023: Blackpink was personally honored by King Charles III during their visit to London for their global influence and commitment to environmental protection.

Lisa is the youngest member of Blackpink.

Right from the start, she impressed fans with her strong presence, her charismatic face and her talent. Her popularity increased with each passing year and reached a new peak when Lisa finally launched a solo career in 2021. Today, she is one of the most famous K-Pop idols in the world and serves as an inspiration to both her fans and younger idols.

SOLO CAREER

Lisa made her solo debut on September 10, 2021 with the single album “Lalisa” including the title song of the same name. The title “Lalisa” is Lisa’s real name. The music video is also based on her origins, as she wears traditional Thai clothing.

At that point, Blackpink was already known around the world and expectations for their debut were high. Lisa not only met them, but probably even exceeded them! The album topped the Gaon Album Chart (now the Circle Chart) and sold over 736 copies in its first week, more than any previous album by a female solo artist. Lisa even set a Guinness World Record for becoming the first K-pop solo artist to reach one billion streams on Spotify.

In December 2023, YG Entertainment confirmed that Lisa and the other members of Blackpink have not signed new contracts for their individual activities. Although YG remains in charge of Blackpink's activities as a group, individually the members have joined other agencies. Lisa announced the founding of her own label “LLOUD” on February 8th.

Lisa continued her solo career under LLOUD. She created a new TikTok account and published the first teasers for her new single there. Once again she received an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. In just 2 hours and 18 minutes she got an incredible million followers on TikTok! The new single “Rockstar” was released on June 28, 2024, and topped the Billboard Global Excl. US chart. Less than two months later, on August 16th, Lisa released another single: “New Woman” with the Spanish singer Rosalía.

Lisa also appears in various shows. She is particularly known for her mentor role in the Chinese survival show “Youth With You”. There she passed on her experience to the trainees and distributed both praise and harsh criticism.

Lisa also published a photo book called “0327” in March for several years. The title refers to Lisa's birthday. The first book was published in 2020, the last in 2023. Each volume consists of a collection of photos that Lisa took herself. Her photographs provide a personal insight into her life and her impressions.

ILLUSTRATION

Lisa has been modeling before her debut and has continued to work with many different brands since then. In 2020, for example, she was appointed global ambassador for the French luxury brand “Celine”. In the same year, the Italian fashion house Bulgari and the clothing brand Penshoppe also chose her as a brand ambassador. Lisa also collaborated with cosmetics brand MAC in 2021 and released her own collection called “MAC X L”. This includes powder, blush, eyeliner, eyeshadow and more.

• Lisa is the most followed K-pop idol on Instagram. She has more than 100 million followers.
• She can play guitar and ukulele.
• Her favorite dishes include fries and gamjatang. Gamjatang is a Korean stew typically served with rice.
