K-Pop is something very special for more and more music lovers all over the world. Unusual music and artistic videos are only part of it. We, and probably you too, get a lot of joy out of collecting the great fan items such as albums, light sticks and more. Holding official merchandise in our hands simply gives us the feeling of being a little bit closer to our idol, right?
But international K-Pop fans know that it is not always easy to order CDs and other fan items from abroad. They often have to wait a long time for their packages, but the most annoying part is probably the high shipping costs.
You can see that the topic is still very current from the discussion about Weverse that recently broke out. (Weverse is the official shop of BTS's agency HYBE.)
European ARMYs were excited to buy the fan items of the “Artist-Made Collection”, personally designed by the BTS members, which was released at the beginning of the year. The shipping prices, however, put a damper on their excitement. We all know that shipping from South Korea is not exactly cheap. But with Weverse, European fans currently have to pay almost as much as for the product itself! So you can expect to end up paying around 160 dollars for an 80-dollar sweater! Many international fans therefore prefer not to buy anything at all. Understandable, right? It doesn't help to order in groups either, because the shipping goes up again with every additional product in the cart.
Unfortunately, Weverse has only three location options so far: Japan, USA and Global. But Global apparently isn't nearly enough to make reasonable shipping prices possible for fans worldwide.
This example shows how important European K-Pop shops are. The K-Pop wave has long since spilled over to us as well, and demand keeps growing!
