In March 2015, the relatively young agency "WM Entertainment" introduced eight trainees to debut in their first girl group "Oh My Girl". This is also only the second idol group for the agency, which until then had only signed boy group B1A4.
Trainees Hyojung, Mimi, YooA, Seunghee, Jiho, Yubin, Arin and JinE then debuted together on April 20, 2015 with the album "Oh My Girl" and the title song "Cupid." The song describes the exciting feeling of being in love and has been called one of the strongest K-pop debuts in 2015 by various sources!
The girl group announced just two months later that they were working on a new album. In October, they made their comeback with "Closer" and the title track of the same name. Again, Oh My Girl received a lot of praise and "Closer" made it to Billboard's list of the 20 best K-pop songs of 2015.
2016: Growing popularity!
On March 21, 2016, the girl group previewed "Pink Ocean," their first album in 2016, with the pre-release single "Step by Step". The Album was released on March 28. Fans had another reason to rejoice that day, as the girl group announced the official name of their fan group, "Miracle" Seunghee explained in an interview that "Miracle" was derived from their song "B612" (included on Pink Ocean). In it, it says "If you love me, it would be like a miracle to me."
Just two months later, at the end of May, "Windy Day" was released, a repackage album that features two new tracks - "Stupid Love" and the title track "Windy Day" - in addition to the songs from "Pink Ocean." The album also includes the Chinese version of "Liar Liar," the title track from Pink Ocean, which was previously exclusive to Chinese streaming sites.
Again, fans didn't have to wait long for the girl group. On August 1, Oh My Girl released their first single album, "Listen to My Word." It is something special because the album contains four remake songs, such as the eponymous song "Listen to My Word" by Papaya (feat. Skull and Haha), among others.
But fans will probably remember most of all that Oh My Girl topped the charts for the first time with the album! Until then, the girl group had reached #5 or #4 before, but never the top.
Shortly before, Oh My Girl had also proved their popularity in another way. At the end of June, tickets for their first solo concert called "Summer Fairy Tales" in August were sold. After three minutes they were all gone. That was a record for such a young group!
JinE leaves Oh My Girl
But just as the group reached its first major milestones, WM Entertainment announced on August 25 that JinE would take a break for the time being. The singer was suffering from an eating disorder and went on hiatus to seek treatment.
The next album, "Coloring Book," was released on April 3, 2017, and JinE was not involved because she was still receiving treatment, even though her health had improved, according to WM. Then, four months later, there was news, but not the news that most probably hoped for.
JinE terminated her contract due to her continuous health problems and officially left the group. Since then, Oh My Girl has been on the road with seven members.

Shortly after JinE left the group, a new album was announced to be released in November. In November, it was then said that the release was postponed to January in order to be able to work on the album a little longer. On January 9, 2018, however, the time really came. Oh My Girl released "Secret Garden" with the title song of the same name. With the song, they won a music show for the first time, almost three years after their debut!
After releasing just one album in 2017, fans were probably very happy to see that a new album was already released in April. It marks the debut of the first subunit:
Oh My Girl Banhana
The album "Banana Allergy Monkey" features all members, but the title song of the same name is sung by the subunit consisting of Hyojung, Yubin and Arin.
In June 2018, Oh My Girl signed a contract with Japanese label "Ariola Japan." As a result, first the subunit "Oh My Girl Banhana" made their Japan debut with the Japanese version of "Banana Allergy Monkey".
Japan Debut
The whole group first made a Korean comeback in August with "Remember Me" before releasing their first Japanese album "Oh My Girl Japan Debut Album" on January 9, 2019! It contains Japanese versions of all the Korean title songs released until then. Limited edition versions even feature both versions of each. The album topped the Oricon Daily Album Charts and reached #2 on the Oricon Weekly Album Charts! A successful start!
In May another Korean album was released with the title "The Fifth Season", but already in July fans could enjoy the second Japanese album "Oh My Girl Japan 2nd Album". They had even been allowed to vote in a poll beforehand which Korean songs of the group they would like to hear in Japanese! In addition to the selected songs, the album also includes new, original Japanese tracks.
As if that wasn't enough, Oh My Girl also released a repackage of "The Fifth Season" called "Fall In Love" in August, featuring the title track "Bungee (Fall In Love)." The third album in four months!
Still in August, the girl group also confirmed their participation in the music competition Queendom and made it quite clear that there was no break in the near future!
Queendom
From August to October, a total of six female artists - AOA, (G)I-DLE, Mamamoo, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl and Park Bom (formerly 2NE1) - competed against each other in four rounds to determine the "true number one". In the first round, all contestants performed a newly arranged version of one of their hit songs. Oh My Girl performed "Secret Garden" and took third place. In the second round, they came out on top with a cover of Lovelyz "Destiny"! On October 25, all six artists released a new single for the finals. Oh My Girl's "Guerilla" and the accompanying performance earned them second place at the end of the show! (Mamamoo emerged as the winner).
"Guerilla" was released along with the other groups' singles in the digital album "Queendom Final Comeback."
For their third Japanese album, "Eternally", Oh My Girl also recorded a Japanese version of "Guerilla." In addition, the album includes a Japanese version of "Bungee" and four new Japanese songs, including the title track "Eternally." The album accompanied fans through the turn of the year, as after the songs were released digitally in December, the physical version was finally available in January 2020.
2020: Nonstop
On January 13, 2020, WM Entertainment announced that Jiho would be taking a break due to health issues, mainly anxiety. She had been receiving treatment since mid-2019, but her symptoms worsened, leading to this decision.
However, when Oh My Girl announced their new album "Nonstop" in April, Jiho already returned from her break to the relief of fans! The title track "Nonstop" stayed in the Top 100 Daily Charts of the popular Korean streaming site "Melon" for over a year, until September 2021! They even broke the previous record for girl groups of 479 days, set by Twice in 2017 with "Cheer Up." As if that wasn't enough, they surpassed themselves shortly after. Their song "Dolphin," a B-side from "Nonstop," stayed on the charts for 546 days, another nearly 50 days more than "Nonstop"!
The rest of the year, the girl group released a series of singles. From June to August, three Japanese singles - "Nonstop" (June), "Lemonade" (July), "Tear Rain" (August) - were released to celebrate certain milestones of Oh My Girl on the "Line Music App." All three songs are included on their first Japanese single album "Etoile/ Nonstop Japanese Ver." in addition to the new single "Etoile," which was released on October 8. A Korean version of "Etoile" was also released in late October.
In between, Oh My Girl was still working on a collaboration with "Pororo the Little Penguin," a very popular animated Korean children's series. As part of the collaboration, the single "Supadupa" and a new version of Pororo's original soundtrack "Barabam" were released in August. That same month, the girl group also released the single "Rocket Ride" featuring German DJ Keanu Silva and Canadian singer-songwriter Mougleta!
2021 until today!
On May 10, 2021, Oh My Girl finally made a comeback over a year after "Nonstop"! The new album "Dear Oh My Girl" is another milestone, as the girl group topped the Gaon Digital charts for the first time with the title track "Dun Dun Dance"!
Shortly after, Oh My Girl re-records the song for her second Japanese single album, "Dun Dun Dance Japanese Ver." The album was released digitally on July 22 and physically on September 22. In addition to "Dun Dun Dance," it also includes Japanese versions of "Nonstop" and "Dolphin".
Most recently, the group released the single "Shark" for the "Universe Music App."

As 2022 has just begun, we can now look forward to a new year with the cheerful girl group! We are sure that they will continue to move forward and celebrate brand new successes!
On January 19, WM Entertainment announced that "Bae Yubin" has changed her stage name "Binnie," which she has been known by since Oh My Girl's debut in 2015, to "Yubin." So she's definitely ready for something new!
YooA
YooA is the only one from Oh My Girl who has debuted solo so far. The talented singer released her first solo album "Bon Voyage" on September 7! Eight days later, she took first place in a music show with the title song of the same name! The album itself reached #3 on the Gaon album charts. After this success, it is hopefully only a matter of time until YooA finally presents a second album!
