NCT’s newest unit, currently known as NCT NEW TEAM, hasn’t even debuted yet and a member has already left the group: Jungmin. SM Entertainment shared the sad news this morning on Twitter, surprising fans who are eagerly waiting for the unit’s debut.
Almost exactly one month ago, SM Entertainment announced the seven winners of the survival show LASTART, who will soon debut in the newest and last NCT unit. The team was supposed to set off on a pre-debut tour on October 8! But now it looks like only six members will be greeting the fans.
In the statement, SM explained that Jungmin had to pause training and other activities for health reasons. After several discussions, the label decided together with Jungmin and his family that health comes first. Jungmin is leaving NCT NEW TEAM to focus on his treatment and is a trainee again. That means the unit will now continue with six members.
SM Entertainment wants to support Jungmin so that he can recover and turn to new activities. So it looks like he will stay with the label for now and keep training there in the future.
