Kim Jisoo (김지수) was born on January 3, 1995 in Gunop, South Korea. She has an older brother (Junghun) and an older sister (Jiyoon). As a child, Jisoo had many interests. She practiced taekwondo and wanted to be an author or painter. She attended the School of Performing Arts in Seoul and joined the Drama Club there. In 2011, Jisoo participated in an audition by YG Entertainment and was subsequently accepted as a trainee.

Over the next few years she worked as a model and appeared in music videos. Jisoo appeared in Epik High's "Spoiler + Happen Ending" video in 2014 and in Hi Suhyun's "Im Different" video. In 2015, Jisoo even made a brief guest appearance in the K-drama "The Producers".

On August 8, 2016, Jisoo debuted as a member of the four-member girl group Blackpink. The other three members of Blackpink are: Lisa, Jennie and Rosé. The Debüt Album “Square One” was a complete success: The singles “Whistle” & “Boombayah” topped both the Gaon Digital Chart and US Billboard's World Digital Songs Chart. Jisoo is the oldest member of Blackpink.

She and the youngest Lise are separated by a good two years. Jisoo began to branch out into other areas early on. In 2017 and 2018 she hosted the music show Inkigayo and in 2019 she took on her first major acting role in the Korean series “Arthdal ​​Chronicles”. To date, she is the only member of Blackpink with a career as an actress.

SOLO CAREER

In 2023, Jisoo finally made her solo debut with the Single Album “Me” including the title track “Flower” and the B-side track “All Eyes on Me”. It topped the Circle Album Chart and sold over 1 million copies in its first week. This is not only a huge success for Jisoo, but also a significant record in the K-Pop industry. “Me” is the first album by a Korean female solo artist in history to break the million mark!
