Today, the girl group Blackpink not only reached a personal milestone, but also set a record like no other K-pop group before them!
As of today, January 4, 2023, the music video for DDU-DU DDU-DU is the first music video by a K-pop group to have been viewed more than two billion times!
The song appeared on the album “Square Up”.
The video was uploaded in June 2018, so four years and a little more than 6 months ago. Back then, it already broke records: within the first 24 hours it was viewed so many times that it counted as one of the most-watched music videos of all time. It was also the first music video by a K-pop group to hit 1 billion views. Since then, a few other Korean artists such as BTS have also passed the 1 billion mark with their music videos. We are already curious who will follow Blackpink and reach 2 billion views!
