We congratulate Blackpink on a new record!
Today, the girl group Blackpink not only reached a personal milestone, but also set a record like no other K-pop group before!
As of today, January 4 2023, the music video for DDU-DU DDU-DU became the first music video by a K-pop group that has been viewed more than two billion times!
The song appeared on the album "Square Up".
The video was uploaded in June 2018, four years and a little over 6 months ago. It broke records even then: within the first 24 hours, it was viewed so many times that it was considered one of the most viewed music videos of all time. In addition, it was also the first music video by a K-pop group to crack 1 billion views. Meanwhile, some other Korean artists like BTS also cracked the 1 billion mark with their music videos. We are already excited to see who will follow Blackpink and reach the 2 billion views!
Congratulations to Blackpink for this great success that we will surely remember years from now!
The only K-pop music video to reach the 2 billion views before Blackpink is "Gangnam Style" by PSY. The video was uploaded to Youtube in 2012. Now, over 10 years later, it has been viewed 4.2 billion times!
