We keep our fingers crossed for AleXa to win the American Song Contest!

On May 9, the grand finale of the first American Song Contest will take place! This is also interesting for K-pop fans, because among the 10 finalists is American-Korean singer AleXa! She debuted in Korea in 2019 and may be familiar to you through songs like "Revolution," "Xtra" or her latest single "Tattoo"!

The American Song Contest is the US version of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), which has been held annually since 1956. The ESC is an international music competition where the participants represent different European countries. Every year, millions of viewers around the world watch the show.

The American Song Contest pits all 50 U.S. states, five territories and the nation's capital, Washington, D.C., against each other. Oklahoma has brought a probably rather unexpected contestant into the race: K-pop singer AleXa! Of course, that doesn't come from anywhere, because AleXa was born and raised in Oklahoma. Therefore, she is a fitting representative for the state and brings variety to the competition!

All 56 contestants had to submit a new original song for the contest, which they performed in all rounds of the competition. AleXa released the new single "Wonderland" and impressed with a strong performance in the first preliminary round on March 21:

In each of the five preliminary rounds, 11-12 artists competed against each other. Four of each were chosen to move on to the next round, one by the judges and the remaining 3 by a phone vote from viewers across the country. Afterwards, of all those who didn't make it, the 2 artists with the most streams were added to the semi-finalist. AleXa was voted on by the viewer vote.

In two semi-final rounds, 11 participants competed against each other. AleXa was again already in the first round. She performed "Wonderland" again, but had slightly changed the performance and started in the air!

It's probably safe to say that the talented singer delivered the most elaborate show in the competition!

As before, one artist was voted on by the judges. In the first semifinal, that was Allen Stone of Washington. The four winners of the audience vote were not announced until the second semi-final a week later. AleXa's fans had gone all out once again to help the singer make it to the finals!

So now she will fight against the other nine finalists for 1st place next Monday! Among her opponents is superstar Michael Bolton, so it definitely won't be easy.

In an interview after the semifinals, AleXa revealed that she has many ideas for an even better and bigger performance to show something new in the finals. So we can definitely be curious and keep our fingers crossed for her!
