The Met Gala is one of the biggest fashion events of the year. Every year, some of the biggest stars and designers in the world gather in New York to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and to open the new fashion exhibition.
Yesterday, alongside international stars like Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Hemsworth, the K-Pop boy group Stray Kids also walked the red carpet. Once again, the group has made K-Pop history!
The Met Gala was founded back in 1948 and still takes place on the first Monday in May every year. It is considered one of the most important and exclusive events in the fashion industry, as it offers the opportunity to showcase creative fashion creations and raise donations for the museum. It also serves as a platform for cultural and social discussions about fashion and art. On May 6, 2024, the Met Gala took place in New York once again.

All eight members of Stray Kids walked the red carpet yesterday. The stars wore outfits by the designer Tommy Hilfiger. At first they were still wearing long coats, but soon they revealed the chic suits underneath. In keeping with the Tommy Hilfiger logo, the dominant colors were red, white and blue. Golden embellishments in the shape of flowers underline the theme of the evening: “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashions”.
That evening, Stray Kids impressed not only with their breathtaking visuals, but also set a new record: they were the first complete K-Pop group to be invited to the Met Gala!
Before Stray Kids, a few other K-Pop stars had already been guests at the Met Gala:
These include PSY and Super Junior’s Siwon in 2013, Rain in 2015 and EXO’s Lay in 2019. With Rosé of Blackpink and CL (2NE1), the first female K-Pop stars joined in 2021 as well. Last year, Blackpink’s Jennie and Jackson of GOT7 impressed the audience.
Jennie was there again in 2024, this time in a blue mini dress with a long train from the fashion brand Alaïa.

Stray Kids fans were actually looking forward above all to Stray Kids' appearance on the red carpet yesterday evening, but instead the interview with Tommy Hilfiger became the unexpected highlight. The designer let it slip and accidentally announced that Stray Kids will soon embark on a World Tour!

Fans around the world pricked up their ears at those last words. Until now, there had been no details or official information about a 2024 World Tour. Stray Kids also quickly realized what Tommy Hilfiger had just revealed. Above all, Bang Chan's reaction has been discussed on Twitter, Instagram and elsewhere since yesterday, because it was so funny.
The leader of Stray Kids pulled a startled grimace. He calmed down quickly, but we are sure that he and his members were freaking out inside!
