We have sad news for fans of the boy group Astro, because member Rocky has left the group. Fantagio Entertainment, Astro's management company, issued an official statement about this news today.
According to the statement, Rocky had held detailed contract talks with the label but ultimately decided not to renew his contract. Four of the five other members - Jinjin, Eunwoo, Moonbin and Sanha - have all renewed their contracts with Fantagio.
The oldest, MJ, has been in the military since May 2022 and will not return until November. Only then will he negotiate a new contract with the label. We hope he will decide to remain a member of Astro!
Most recently, on May 16, Astro released the studio album “Drive to the Starry Road” with all six members.
So it is the last album with Rocky. Since their debut in 2016, the boy group has released 15 albums and a few singles. After all this time, it will of course be hard to get used to the new line-up, but we wish both Astro and Rocky lots of success with their next projects!
Rocky's departure also means that the Astro subunit “JinJin & Rocky” is disbanding.
The unit presented its first and last album “Restore” on January 17, 2022, including the title song “Just Breath”.
“JinJin and Rocky” is one of two Astro subunits. The other is called “Moonbin & Sanha”. It was formed in 2020 and recently released its third mini album “Incense”.
"Thank you to the fans who have supported and accompanied Rocky. Please continue to show your interest and support for Rocky, who will embark on a new beginning.
In the future, ASTRO will continue as a five-member group, and the members will focus on solo and group activities. We will support them so that they can be active in various areas of the industry.
Please continue to show your interest and support for the ASTRO members." - Fantagio Entertainment.
