Monsta X fans have to say goodbye to Minhyuk for a while

Monsta X Fans müssen sich für eine Weile von Minhyuk verabschieden

“On April 4, because of my mandatory military service, I won't be able to see all of you very often for a very short time.”

Minhyuk shared this with his fans yesterday in a handwritten letter. Like all men in South Korea, he has to serve at least 18 months in the military. In just under three weeks, we will have to say goodbye to the idol for a while.

It was actually a close call, and the boy group could have been reunited again. In April, Shownu is also returning from the military, probably just a few days after Minhyuk begins his service! That makes Shownu soon the first member of Monsta X to have completed his service. Minhyuk is only the second to go into the military.

The news isn't all that surprising. After all, Minhyuk is the second oldest after Shownu and turns 30 this year in November. Idols can postpone their military service, but at the latest when they turn 30, they have to go. That means Kihyun will be next very soon, as he also turns 30 in November. Hyungwon follows, who celebrates his big birthday in January 2024.

So it will still take a while until Monsta X is reunited. But fortunately, that doesn't mean we have to do without the guys entirely. As before, all the remaining members will probably continue to record albums together and dedicate themselves to solo projects. We are especially curious what Shownu has planned next!

Have your favorite idols already finished their military service? Or is it still ahead of them? Let us know in the comments!
