The South Korean entertainment agency JYP Entertainment is ready to present another fresh talent, after already having founded popular bands such as TWICE, Wonder Girls and others. Who exactly it is and all further details are still unknown - so it stays exciting!
The agency was founded in 1997 and is one of the most renowned agencies in South Korea. JYP currently manages several groups and solo artists, such as 2PM and Stray Kids.
On July 8, JYP released a mysterious teaser, and on July 9, after widespread curiosity, they revealed that it is a new girl band - the first new girl band in three years since ITZY's debut in 2019. The band will debut in February 2022, an exact date is not yet known, nor is the name of the band.
The teaser's title “Blind Package” describes pretty much everything connected to the girl band: you have to go into it blind. The way the new band is being promoted with a concert is also something completely new. In addition, the debut single will only be available to a limited extent. You will be able to pre-order it from July 16 - 25, and no reprint is planned.
As you can already tell, it's a completely new concept - as the title already hints, “It’s not an ordinary package, It’s extraordinary!”. Just go with it, you will surely not regret it!
The new group is led by JYP Entertainment's Division 4, which is run by Lee Ji Young, the company's first female CEO.
The debut single consists of the CD, a photobook, a photocard, a poster, a randomly selected Polaroid and a Premium Membership Card. The Membership Card goes into a prize draw and the lucky winner gets to take part in the event after the debut.
