After more than three years, IU is finally returning to a new K-drama! As an actress, she is almost as successful as she is as a singer and is regularly praised for her talent. Of course, IU has also already received several awards for her acting performances.
So we are certainly not the only ones looking forward to the new project! Especially since the male lead is played by the popular actor Park Bo Gum.
The drama is called “I Was Fooled”.
The literal translation of the original Korean title is “You Have Done Well”.
The series is set around 1950 on Jeju Island. IU (Lee Ji Eun) will step into the role of “Ae Soon”, a girl from a poor family.
Ae Soon can't even attend a proper school, but dreams of becoming a poet. She is rebellious, but whenever she tries to tell others her opinion, her voice trembles like crazy.
Sounds funny, right? We're curious how IU will portray these traits!
Park Bo Gum plays Gwan Shik, a hard-working, diligent and very quiet young warrior. He is loyal and only has eyes for Ae Soon. However, he has no idea about romance and doesn't know how to behave around her. When she cries or laughs, he is at a loss.
The series will follow the love story of these two through several seasons. Filming is supposed to begin in the first half of the year!
The script is written by the author Im Sang Choon, who is known for successful series such as “Fight For My Way” or “When the Camellia Blooms”. The director is “Kim Won Seok”, with whom IU already worked together on the series “My Mister” (2018).
As already mentioned, it has been years since IU was last seen in a K-drama:
Most recently, the fantasy series “Hotel Del Luna” aired from July to September 2019. In it, IU plays a moody woman who has been cursed for more than 1,000 years to run a ghost hotel. She helps her guests with the transition to the afterlife.
In fact, though, a film called "Broker" came out in June 2022, in which IU plays a single mother who gives her baby up for adoption but has second thoughts afterwards. Have you seen the film yet?
Park Bo Gum has also kept his fans waiting for quite a while now:

His last film “Seo Book” was released in 2021 and his last series “Record of Youth” was even back in 2020. That is of course because he served his military service from August 2020 to February 2022.
He was not only a diligent soldier, as we can see from the fact that he was promoted to sergeant in November 2021. On top of that, he also learned to cut hair during that time and obtained a hairdresser's license.
In Seo Bok, Park Bo Gum slipped into the role of a human clone, and in Record of Youth he played a model who dreams of becoming an actor.
What are your favorite works of the two? We especially like “Love in the Moonlight” with Park Bo Gum, and we've watched “Moon Lovers” with IU in the lead role at least five times already!
