Yesterday, Mamamoo's agency RBW Entertainment revealed the cover for the new album on the group's official Twitter account, along with the release date and the previously unknown title: “I SAY MAMAMOO: THE BEST” will be released on September 15.
The last album “WAW” was only released three months ago, but the anticipation is still huge, because “I SAY MAMAMOO: THE BEST” marks the first comeback since Wheein left the agency.
As with many other K-pop groups, the contract of Mamamoo's four members expired after seven years, so the girl group, which debuted in 2014, faced the decision this year of how to continue. Solar and Moonbyul already signed a new contract in January; Hwasa followed their example in March.
Wheein, however, decided in June to leave the agency and later signed an exclusive contract with “THEL1VE”. Her time with Mamamoo was by no means over, though, because she decided to sign a separate contract with RBW Entertainment so she could continue to be active as part of the girl group.
Wheein's solo activities will therefore be managed by her new agency, while RBW remains responsible for her activities with Mamamoo.
Despite the assurance that Wheein and the remaining three members would continue to release new music together, probably not everyone expected it to happen this soon. In addition, “I SAY MAMAMOO: THE BEST” is not only the first album since Wheein left the agency, but also the group's first compilation album, which will contain new versions of previous title tracks and popular B-sides. With the album, Mamamoo wants to celebrate its seventh anniversary and also look back musically on the last seven years as a group. Although there is no exact tracklist yet, it is known that it will also contain brand-new songs.
The album comes with 2 CDs, a 208-page photobook, one of four postcards and two of 16 photocards.
The compilation album is just right for new fans, who can get two CDs full of music right away! Because the old songs have been rearranged and brand-new tracks are included, long-time fans will also get their money's worth.
