Since 2018, the charismatic girl group (G)I-DLE has been winning fans' hearts with earworm hits and energetic performances. Today, Miyeon, Soyeon and the rest of the group opened a new chapter: from now on, the group is called “i-dle” and is celebrating the fresh start with two new albums right away!
It all began this morning with a tweet celebrating the girl group's 7th anniversary. The poster shows a logo and the message “Happy 7th Anniversary”. It also says “i-dle” instead of the usual “(G)I-DLE”. The names of the social media channels have already been changed too and now all say “i-dle”. Since then, the girl group has uploaded new content almost non-stop: handwritten messages, a digital album called “We are i-dle” and numerous photos as well as details about the 8th Mini Album, which will be released on May 19.
The digital album “We are i-dle” includes 9 tracks that sound very familiar to us. In fact, they are new versions of past hits like “LATATA”, “HANN” or “LION”. These songs were originally released by 6 members. The new i-dle versions were recorded by the current 5 members: Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi and Shuhua. Soojin left the group in 2021 due to bullying allegations.
In the handwritten messages, the members look back on their past successes and thank their fans for all their support. They also promise to stay with us for a long time.
I-DLE - 8TH MINI ALBUM
In less than 3 weeks, a new mini album will be released. Unlike “We are i-dle”, the 8th Mini Album contains brand-new songs. You can also look forward to 4 physical versions, which will be released in less than 3 weeks.
The three Standard versions come with a photo book, a CD, an optional poster and lots of exciting extras.
The little extras are usually the highlight of the album. This time you can look forward to a 7-piece lyric paper set, a photo poster, a postcard, one of 5 possible photocards and a sticker.
The Special Jewel version is a bit smaller.
It consists of a plastic case, inside which you will find a CD and a 16-page photo book. On top of that, you get a lyric paper, one of 5 photocards, a sticker and optionally a poster.
You can also order all 4 versions with an additional Weverse Gift:
In the concept photos, the singers appear in artistic white dresses and look almost like statues. Fittingly, a visual film titled “for (G)” was released this morning.
What do you think of the new name? Actually, only the “G” was removed, but after all these years we will surely only get used to the change slowly.
