Mark your calendars for June 30: That's the day the first episode of the new girl group survival show "R U Next?" airs!
Since the first teasers appeared a few days ago, fans have been eagerly waiting for more details. Not without reason. The show is produced by Belift Lab, a label under HYBY, which also produced I-Land. So far, Belift Lab only manages the boy group Enhypen, which came out of I-Land. However, thanks to the new show, a new girl group will join them this year!
Today 22 new videos were uploaded on one of HYBE's Youtube channels! In them, the 22 trainees who will be competing for a spot in the new group over the next few weeks introduce themselves.
In fact, there are a few familiar faces among them:
Ruka was featured in the Le sserafim documentary "The World Is My Oyster". She trained together with Sakura, Chaewon and Yunjin until the producers decided she didn't fit into the group. Maybe she will get a little closer to her dream in R U Next.
Japan's Funa fought for her dream on JYP's Japanese survival show "Nizi Project", but unfortunately was not among the nine winners. Since then, she has undoubtedly trained hard and is ready for a new challenge!
In addition, there are some contestants who previously trained under other labels:
Minju was a YG trainee, Jeemin, like Ruka, comes from Source Music, Le sserafim's label, and Youngseo was with ADOR (New Jeans) for a while. And Jeongeun is the daughter of famous Korean actor Ryu Seungryong.
The show features a colorful mix of trainees!
The contestants are not only from South Korea, but also from Japan and Thailand. 20-year-old Chanelle is of Korean-American descent.
Chanelle and Jiwoo are currently the oldest candidates at 20, while the youngest Ena is only twelve. All the others are 15 to 19 years old.
There is also a dedicated Twitter account for R U Next, where profile pictures of the 22 trainees were uploaded a few hours ago. Check back regularly to make sure you don't miss anything!
Which of them will follow in the footsteps of Le sserafim and New Jeans? The new girl group is already HYBE's third in just two years. Will they be able to continue their winning streak and set new records soon?
