The week gets shorter: Shin Jiyoon leaves Weeekly.

Weeekly is a relatively young girl group that debuted in June 2020 with their debut album "We Are". Most people might be familiar with their song "After School" from their third album "We Play", which went viral and introduced many new fans to the group.
Unfortunately, today's news is not quite as cheerful: Shin Jiyoon is leaving the group.
The singer first took a break in August 2021 due to recurring anxiety. In December, fans rejoiced at her return, but in February of this year, Jiyoon withdrew once again. Although her mental health had improved during therapy and recovery in 2021, the anxiety had unfortunately returned. Today, June 1, Weeekly's agency IST Entertainment (formerly called Play M Entertainment) announced that Jiyoon would officially end her activities as a member of the girl group.
During her hiatus, Weeekly has already promoted the last two albums - Play Game: Holiday (August 2021) and Play Game: Awake (March 2022) as a six-piece.
Fans have been hoping for the day when they will see all seven members on stage together again, but unfortunately they have to say goodbye to that hope.
IST Entertainment asked fans to continue to support Weeekly in today's statement and cheer all the more to fill the empty spot of "Wednesday." The name "Weeekly" embodies the girl group's motto that "every day brings a new and special week". Fittingly, each member of the group embodied one of the seven days of the week, and Shin Jiyoon was "Wednesday".
So Weeekly's week is getting a little shorter. But that doesn't make it any less special! We are sure that the girl group will inspire us even with six members and we really hope that Jiyoon will feel better soon.
