The wait is finally over: Jeon Somi is back!
Since the last comeback with the first studio album XOXO , 21 months have passed in which fans have waited in vain for new music. After a long period of uncertainty, Jeon Somi finally shed some light on the matter in early June. Namely, her agency THEBLACKLABEL confirmed on June 2 that the singer will release a new album in August.
And today we got the first details!
Already on August 7, the digital album GAME PLAN will be released. And a week later, on August 14, a physical album will also be released.
GAME PLAN is only Somi's second physical album, so fans undoubtedly can't wait to add it to their collection!
Unfortunately, fans have always had to wait for new music from the talented singer:
Since her solo debut with digital singles "Birthday" and "Outta my Head" in June 2019, another single was released once a year: "What You Waiting For" (July 2020) and "Dumb Dumb" (August 2021). After three years of releasing only digital singles, Somi finally presented a physical album called XOXO in October 2021. It contains four new songs and the four previously released singles.
Somi gained attention back in 2015 as a contestant on the survival show "Sixteen", where the now world-famous girl group Twice was formed.
A year later, she won the first season of the popular survival show "Produce 101" and debuted as a center in the project group I.O.I. As planned from the beginning, this group disbanded almost a year later. In the following years Somi participated in other projects.
She was already very well known before her solo debut and so it is no wonder that her first single "Birthday" was already successful in the charts.
And it went on and on: With "What You Waiting For" Somi won her first music show trophy and the music video for "Dumb Dumb" was viewed 10 million times in less than 24 hours! It's about time Somi adds new hits to our playlist!
We are very happy to get a whole album instead of another single after all this time. On Twitter, THEBLACKLABEL revealed a new photo of Somi alongside the release date of GAME PLAN. She shows herself dressed all in black, with blonde hair and looking over her shoulder into the camera.
